Abstract

This study aims to design an automatic shutdown system on the Wanson boiler at PPSDM Migas Cepu based on the Allen-Bradley RSLogix5000 PLC, with water level, pressure, and temperature parameters as the main variables. The manual system that is still used has the potential to cause operational risks due to delayed responses, so automation is needed to improve safety and efficiency. The research methods include field orientation, literature studies, boiler specification data collection, and ladder diagram simulation using RSLogix 5000 software. The simulation includes three main scenarios: (1) automatic shutdown when the water level is in Low-Low (LL) or High-High (HH) conditions, (2) warning indicators when the water level reaches the Low (L) or High (H) limit, and (3) temperature and pressure monitoring for critical condition detection. The simulation results show that the PLC-based shutdown system can improve safety response, reduce the risk of accidents, and save hardware costs. The designed ladder diagram activates an alarm and stops boiler operation when critical parameters exceed safe limits. This implementation proves that PLC plays a role in improving operational efficiency and flexibility, while supporting industrial automation according to the concept of the Industrial Revolution 4.0.
